This two-week intensive workshop introduces students to screen printing as a graphic and artistic medium, with a specific focus on printing on paper. The unit combines historical grounding, technical skill development, visual experimentation, and conceptual engagement. Students will explore screen printing as a tool for typographic abstraction and image-based communication, responding to contemporary cultural and social contexts.
The unit begins with an introduction to the history and evolution of screen printing, followed by demonstrations and hands-on exercises covering stencil-making, exposure techniques, ink handling, registration, and printing processes. Learning progresses through two structured projects that balance conceptual inquiry, visual language development, and technical precision.
